Results Week 19 2012

 On Saturday a ladies and gents open was played and Andrew Dolan (21) returned the best card of the day of 42 points. This gave him a single shot victory over Charlie Cavanagh (14). Both these players were well ahead of the rest of the competitors. Sean Doherty (21) took the third place prize with 38 points. Nigel Davenports’s hard work is beginning to pay off as he won the gross with 29 points, and both Brian McCracken and Noel Faulkner had 24 points to win the front and back nine respectively. In the ladies section, Pat Donaghy (20) once again came to the top with a winning score of 38 points. The clubs Ulster Cup team played the home leg of their tie against Ardminnan, from Portaferry, and now hold a 5 points to 2 advantage going into the away leg this coming Saturday.

Ladies Report

The Donegal Shield is the main team event for ladies played on a singles day, and the Greencastle ladies team came home with the shield last Saturday after a magnificent performance at Ballybofey. The trio of Pauline Casey, Maureen Keys and Lady Captain Betty Gallagher had the best score of the day, but it was only after a tension filled break of tie that they were declared the winners.   Last Thursday’s ladies open was cancelled as the course became unplayable. It is hoped to run the event again in the near future.
