With the deluge of rain on Saturday morning the course became unplayable and the event was unfortunately cancelled. The Presidents Day will now be held this Sunday, with the timesheet for last Saturday still in operation. The open competition on Sunday was held in much better conditions, and Liam Edwards (22) set an unreachable target from early in the morning of 45 points. Six pars on the front nine and a further three on the inward half were of great value as he built up his winning score. In second place was Eddie McIntyre (8) who is beginning to play some excellent golf just now. His score of forty points included a birdie at the twelfth hole. The next best score came from Eamonn Hegarty (18) with 39 points, and the gross was won by Nigel Davenport whose impressive card had three birdies on the front half. The nines were won by Hilary Donnelly and Kevin Thompson. This weekend’s competitions are a two day competition on Friday and Saturday, the Paul Houston ladies and gents open stableford. Timesheets are in operation on both days and spaces can be reserved by contacting the club.
