Position: Head Greenkeeper

Greencastle Golf Club are seeking an experienced, suitably qualified, and highly motivated, Head Greenkeeper to lead their greenkeeping team.

Greencastle Golf Club, near the village of Greencastle in Co Donegal on the banks of the river Foyle, is an 18 hole, members owned course, which ranges between links and parkland.

This is a full-time position, and the salary will be negotiated with the successful candidate following the recruitment process.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Oversee all aspects of golf course management and operations, ensuring the course is presented in excellent condition for members and guests.
Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance program, including turf management, irrigation, and fertiliser treatments.
Supervise and lead a team of greenkeeping staff providing guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient and effective operations.
The position will require a hands-on approach to all aspects of course maintenance and machinery maintenance as we operate with a small team of greenkeepers.
Carry out regular course inspections, identifying and addressing any issues related to turf health, drainage, equipment, or landscaping.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment maintenance and inventory management.
Working closely with the Greens Convenor to develop and implement long term plans for course improvement and sustainability.
Manage the course maintenance budget ensuring cost effective practices and responsible resource allocation.
Be familiar with all aspects of health and safety in the workplace and the implementation of same.
Carry out and update risk assessments and Safe Systems of Work

Qualifications and Experience:
Proven experience in a similar role as a Head Greenkeeper/Course Manager or deputy management role for a minimum of 3 years is preferred.
Level 3 qualification or equivalent in Sports Turf Management or a related field is required.
Have excellent knowledge of turf care (Agronomy), irrigation systems and golf course machinery.
A sound understanding of course drainage and experience in course renovations such as bunker and tee construction.
PA1, PA2 and PA6a chemical application license is required as is a Full clean driving licence.

A strong work ethic and dedication to golf course management.
